The first giveaway pick of 2021 is a gorgeous poetry collection from a writer whose words I’ve only recently fallen in love with, but whose work I believe will leave quite the mark on me for years. The Year of Blue Water is the debut poetry collection from Yanyi, author of the beloved The Reading newsletter and poetry editor at The Foundry. It’s filled with “arresting and straightforward poems” about immigration and identity from the perspective of a queer and trans Chinese American, and explores themes of racism, mental well-being and gender. I’ve already devoured this twice and am excited to share the book—and a note from Yanyi—with one of you. Entries for this giveaway will be accepted through Friday, Jan. 29 at 8 p.m. EST.
