I’m no good at asking for help in my personal life, and all this desperate begging for support isn’t so easy on my ~independent woman~ soul.
But while funding from The Carter Center’s Mental Health Program helped build Foreign Bodies, I’ve been dipping into personal funds to keep it going for about two months now. And as an independent writer, each hour spent on the newsletter without pay is an hour of work I could be doing elsewhere to add to my income.
Truth is, I put a lot of love and energy into this. Love and energy I can’t afford to expend without pay. Love and energy I can’t afford to share with volunteers who deserve to be compensated. But this project and its mission mean too much to just let slip away, so I’ll keep asking for support.
