Friends,
The 18th issue of Foreign Bodies is a bit delayed to ensure our guest is totally comfortable with how her story is told. I have been slower than usual at everything lately, and it really is unfair of me to expect quick revisions on stories that require this kind of emotional energy. I sincerely appreciate when my guests and fellow editors are honest with me when things feel backed up; it gives me a chance to step back and reevaluate how I can improve in the future.
Can’t wait to share Issue 18 with you all Friday morning.
Love,
Fiza
p.s. If you, like me, have had trouble meeting deadlines and personal/professional expectations over the past several months, I hope you go easy on yourself. Missing deadlines is terrifying in my line of work, and while I’m grateful for this small platform that isn’t dependent on a certain number of monthly page view goals or quarterly revenue hits, every disappointment hurts the same (if not more; this is my baby!) I’m working on overcoming that. Life gets in the way—and it certainly did for me this time around. Onwards.
