Hey Foreign Bodies, I was beating myself up yesterday for getting little to no writing work done until I noticed just how bright the sun was shining outside of my window. Tempted as I was to stay in bed with a blank document and blinking cursor taunting me through a blue-light screen, I decided to move my workspace to the yard. About 10 minutes under the sun and I was running around playing fetch with the dogs, my body suddenly alive. I didn’t end up writing much even after the sun played on my skin and bid farewell, but it was clear that I really needed that fresh, crisp Georgia air.
Being outside is just one way I start to feel better in my own skin on a particularly draining day. I’m also a fan of impromptu Florence Welch dance parties in my pajamas (and when I lived alone, in the nude!) and am really getting into the health benefits of short, cold showers and swims for my immune system.
What do you do to feel good in your own skin? Share in the comments!
I love this:) my brother is teaching me to skate while I am at home for remote school!! It is very freeing to learn to control my body and learn to keep a balance. Gives me some body confidence that has nothing to do with looks. The closest rink is 10 min away, but I think I will be ready by Saturday after a lot of falling in the neighborhood haha:)
Um that's AWESOME and I'm so jealous because I desperately want to learn to skate but have yet to learn how to ride a bike (I'm learning!!) So amazing, Laura. I can imagine how amazing it feels. Proud of you.
I feel like I need to get into winter sports because Im worried about how I'll get enough time outride once it gets really cold! But I haven't tried winter swimming. Do you do it after a workout?
I am a big fan of coconut/shea for skincare and find the act of massaging on my arms and legs really soothing and I think it helps my confidence overall to just pamper my self!!
CANDLES. Especially now that it's getting colder (I am in Vermont). I like to light candles and just dance or move my body with yoga. Just a few minutes every day either before bed or right when I wake up if it's still dark!

very cool Laura. Fiza, I too am learning to ride a bicycle right now.
YESSSS to learning as adults! I literally just learned how to swim in deep waters.
Exercising! I've definitely noticed that on days I exercise, my mood is so much better. I enjoy running and also go to an outdoor Muay Thai class.
I need to get back into running now that it's getting cooler!
